30 injured as bus rams Metro pillar

About 30 people were injured when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus hit a Metro pillar near the Kengeri police station in Bengaluru on Sunday.

According to the police, the accident took place around midnight. The area reportedly had received heavy rainfall.

Kengeri police inspector Mallikarjun said three seriously injured people have been kept inan ICU for  observation. There were no deaths.

The bus was reportedly  travelling from Madikeri to Bengaluru.

“The cause of the accident is suspected to be rash and negligent driving. There was heavy rain and storm and roads were blocked. This could have caused the accident, which happened late at night,” a constable at the station informed The Observer.

The injured passengers have been admitted to Victoria Hospital and Supra Hospital in Kengeri. The bus driver has been admitted to BGS Hospital.
